Plot summary

An animated series based on the printed comic series of the same name. This series follows the life of Yawara Inokuma, a young judo prodigy, as she trains for the Olympic Games in Barcelona. Along the way, she faces the school, social and family crises typical of any teenage girl, as well as a number of crises only a world-class judo student could have.

The story is about yawara who has been trained by his grandfather judo since very young age. but yawara does just want an normal life, boyfriend,shopping and friendship in her life and sees the extensive training as an stoppage to her wishes. but her grandfather has other dreams for her! wining gold medal in olympics! at the same time she meets this young reporter that seems a bit taken by her when he see her stop a thief using her judo, knowing she will be a sport star in future. In this series we follow yawara in her life through school and university, her competitons and her funny grandfather,fujiko (her best friend), and many other well developed characters. be warned this is highly addictive , after the first couple of episodes you wont find a way back. there are subtiltled versions which is recommended instead of the dubbed version. google it ! this is an great manga with a great story and some very fun characters. yawara was written by Naoki Urasawa which ran in Big Comic Spirits from 1986 to 1993.
